Typhoon Gal is this week’s Arcade Archives game on Switch
Hamster has been unveiling new retro games to arrive on the Switch eShop nearly every week through its Arcade Archives collection. This week’s entry is Typhoon Gal. Check out some details on this arcade fighting game below.
Typhoon Gal was originally released by Taito in Japan in 1985 under the title Onna Sanshirou: Typhoon Gal. It is an arcade beat-em-up starring the titular Onna Sanshirou as she fights various male black-belt opponents in a dojo using different strategies and tricks. The arcade game features 8 different matches to fight in on a loop, and after all 8 opponents are defeated, the game restarts at a higher difficulty until the player runs out of lives. The game also features a multiplayer mode.
This will be the first time the game is officially published for Western audiences, as both the original arcade cabinet and the later 2007 port in the Taito Memories Volume II collection were exclusive to Japan.
Arcade Archives Typhoon Gal is scheduled to launch digitally tomorrow on September 30, and will cost $7.99 / €6.99 / £6.29 on the Switch eShop.
Hamster has released a new Arcade Archives entry just about every week for several years now. These games span many genres and themes. You can find coverage for these hundreds of titles, including pricing and game details, here.
