A new sports game for Switch is on the horizon, as publisher Nacon and developer Big Ant Studios today announced Cricket 22: The Official Game of The Ashes. It will be appearing on Nintendo’s console in January 2022.

Cricket 22 promises “the most robust, substantial game of cricket that fans have ever seen.” It’ll come with the perennial favorite Ashes competition, but also an expanded lineup of licenses. The game will have Australia’s Big Bash T20 competition, The Hundred, the new competition in England and Wales, the tropical party of the CPL in the Caribbean, and fully-licensed teams from Australia, England, The West Indies, New Zealand and Ireland. Both the Men’s and Women’s games have been replicated, too.

Cricket 22: The Official Game of The Ashes will feature commentary from Michael Atherton, Ian Healy, Mel Jones, Alison Mitchell and David Gower. Along with greater depth and analysis, there will also be an all-women commentary team.

In terms of gameplay, Cricket 22 will include a all-new bowling and fielding controls and a completely overhauled series of tutorials. Fans can also look forward to a narrative-driven career mode in which they’ll manage their training and press conferences, deal with injuries, and decide their path towards international glory.
