Rally X is this week’s Arcade Archives game on Switch
Hamster has unveiled the latest game arriving on the Switch eShop through their Arcade Archives collection. This week’s title is the Namco classic maze racing game Rally X, and it arrives tomorrow. Here is some information on Rally X, courtesy of International Arcade Museum.
Rally X was developed and published for arcades by Namco in 1980. It is a maze racing game in which the player controls a blue car through each level to collect all the flags which give an increasing amount of points based on how many have already been collected, including a special flag that is worth double points. Red enemy cars pursue the blue one and must be evaded. There is a limited amount of fuel for each level acting as a time limit, and more fuel can be used to leave a smoke screen behind the blue car that slows down enemy cars. Rally X also features a two-player mode where each player takes turns playing to compete for a higher score.
Rally X has since made an appearance in several Namco game collections, and the special flag objective from this game has appeared as a usable item in the Super Smash Bros. series.
Arcade Archives Rally X is scheduled to launch digitally tomorrow on October 14, and will cost $7.99 / €6.99 / £6.29 on the Switch eShop.
