Splatoon 3 frame rate resolution

Splatoon 3 is almost here, and Digital Foundry has now put up a video exploring the game from a technical perspective, including frame rate and resolution. Some other tidbits are shared as well.

Here’s the full rundown:

– Lighting seems to have been improved compared to past games
– Visual fidelity and size of Splatsville has increased compared to previous hubs
– Resolution when docked tops out at native 1080p, bottom range is 820p
– Uses dynamic resolution scaling to ensure smooth performance
– Resolution in portable mode tops out at 720p with dynamic resolution scaling dropping to about 75 percent of that
– Maxmium pixel count maintained more often than you’d expect, especially in portable mode
– FSR 1.0 apparently used for Splatoon 3, but doesn’t do much
– Splatoon 3 frame rate is mostly 60 FPS
– Only the hub runs at 30 FPS
– Performance is very stable
– Shell texture fur applied to goo and certain enemies is new for Splatoon 3
– When exploring the islands in single-player, the paint you spray stays when jumping in and out of levels until you close the game
– There doesn’t seem to be any FPS slowdown in single-player
– Load times are relatively short
