Thanks to GamesIndustry, we have new insight into the UK gaming market for May 2023.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was the big winner of the month and comes in at the top spot. Of course, that’s even without Nintendo reporting digital data. The latest Zelda game is the UK’s third best-selling entry, only behind Twilight Princess and Breath of the Wild.
Switch also took the top spot for hardware, overtaking the PS5 which was on a four month run. Sales for Switch actually slipped a tiny bit by 5 percent, but are up 28 percent year-over-year. 35 percent of all Switch sales last month were for the Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom OLED model. For 2023 as a whole, Switch sales are down by 8 percent.
As another brief note, the Switch Pro Controller was the second best-selling accessory in the UK last month. The highest charting new accessory is the Zelda edition of the controller at #20, despite being in short supply. Also, the Switch carry case tie-in with Zelda lands at #32 and sold out as well.
