2023 approval ratings for Nintendo directors
A few days ago, Nintendo’s 83rd Annual General Meeting of Shareholders happened, and shareholders once again voted on the election of its directors once again. As you’d expect, president Shuntaro Furukawa was included here. Shigeru Miyamoto, Shinya Takahashi, Ko Shiota, Satoru Shibata, and Chris Melandri made up the rest of the lineup.
Here’s the full lineup of 2023 approval ratings from Nintendo’s 83rd Annual General Meeting of Shareholders:
- Shuntaro Furukawa: 8,054,806 votes for (83.77%), 1,475,355 votes against, 25,513 no votes
- Shigeru Miyamoto: 8,863,113 votes for (92.17%), 661,274 votes against, 31,297 no votes
- Shinya Takahashi: 9,185,892 votes for (95.53%), 338,495 votes against, 31,297 no votes
- Satoru Shibata: 9,185,948 votes for (95.53%), 338,439 votes against, 31,297 no votes

We also have the following results from last year:
- Shuntaro Furukawa: 815,297 votes for (88.32%), 105,175 votes against, 277 no votes
- Shigeru Miyamoto: 851,470 votes for (92.24%), 66,931 votes against, 2,349 no votes
- Shinya Takahashi: 909,765 votes for (98.56%), 8,637 votes against, 2,349 no votes
- Satoru Shibata: 909,764 votes for (98.56%), 8,638 votes against, 2,349 no votes
- Ko Shiota: 909,761 votes for (98.56%), 8,641 votes against, 2,349 no votes
- Chris Melandri: 916,185 votes for (99.25%), 4,296 votes against, 277 no votes
As you can see, Furukawa’s approval percentage did take a slight hit again this year. Melandri, the CEO of Illumination, did very well – likely due to the huge success of The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Miyamoto’s approval rate is essentially the same as last year.
