No Man's Sky Switch visuals

Something that may have gone under the radar with this week’s No Man’s Sky news is that the game’s visuals have been improved on Switch.

Hello Games just issued a new “Echoes” update and it’s pretty significant. But aside from actual content additions, what was tucked away on the official website and patch notes is that the Switch version has been touched up.

The title is now using a “highly customized version of AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 2 (FSR 2), tailored specifically for No Man’s Sky on Switch” that “provides higher image quality for Switch players.” Hello Games says: “This temporal upscaling technology has been combined with dynamic resolution scaling to offer not only a boost to visual quality, but also improved and smoother framerates.”

That’s not all for Switch players. Hello Games also implemented a “significant number of memory-usage optimizations” and “significant optimization for sky rendering” on the platform.

Also, in terms of content, Switch fans can now equip capes. Those “who would have otherwise earned a cape from a previous Expedition have had their saves upgraded to reflect this, and have been credited with capes they could have redeemed.”

As for the Echoes update in general, you can find the full patch notes here.
