Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II Restored Content DLC cancellation explained

Aspyr has commented on the cancellation of the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II Restored Content DLC for Switch.

The company has actually been facing a class-action lawsuit over the situation. Malachi Mickelonis said he “felt completely duped” and is seeking damages over alleged violations of California consumer law. 17 more plaintiffs joined the suit since then.

Aspyr recently asked a court to toss out the suit. The company believes it already provided relief by giving out a complimentary video game key to players that purchased the game on Switch before the cancellation announcement. Aspyr co-CEO also explained the decision to cancel the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II Restored Content DLC for Switch, noting: “Aspyr believed it would be able to release the content, but a third party objected and Aspyr was unable to do so.”

Had the DLC been made available, players would have been able to access a ton of content scrapped from the original game. It would have included a mission with droid companion HK-47, a revamped ending, new dialogue and interactions among your crew, and new quests and combat missions scattered throughout the world. Aspyr was also planning on making it entirely free.
