Pokemon Scarlet and Violet 7 Star Primarina Guide

The 7 Star Primarina Tera Raid Battle event for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is now live, and we’ve put together a guide explaining the best counters you can bring to take it down and claim its rewards for yourself.

The new 7 Star Primarina event lasts until May 12, and it comes back from May 17 to 19. Primarina’s Tera Type is Fairy, and it knows Sparkling Aria, Moonblast, Psychic, and Sing. It also knows Encore and Surf as secondary moves. This Pokemon doesn’t actually boost its stats for this battle, but it does have some rather annoying status moves that we’ve prepared for. This is one of the easier 7 Star Tera Raid Battles, but you should still get ready as best you can.

If you happen to have it, Tera Steel Zacian holding a Rusted Sword to access its Crowned form works great against 7 Star Primarina – especially if multiple people in your party have it. All you really need are Swords Dance and Iron Head, the latter of which becomes Behemoth Blade when used in battle. If one of your partners doesn’t have Zacian, you can use a support Tera Steel Bronzong set with Light Screen and a Light Clay held item, plus Helping Hand, Flash Cannon, and then Safeguard to protect against 7 Star Primarina’s Sing. Using Bronzong, you’ll want to set up Light Screen at the beginning of the battle and then again if it eventually wears off. Then you can use Safeguard and then spam Flash Cannon for some chip damage. Zacian does need Helping Hand support, because its Behemoth Blade only has a maximum of 8 PP.

Another potential strategy for 7 Star Primarina involves Tera Steel Gholdengo with Nasty Plot and either Make It Rain or Flash Cannon (and Light Screen, if you’d like). You’ll want to give it a Shell Bell item so that it restores its health every time it fires off an attack. Use Nasty Plot three times in a row at the beginning of the battle, and then start attacking with Make It Rain or Flash Cannon. If you’re KO’d, raise your Sp. Attack with Nasty Plot and keep at it. We’d also recommend 252 EVs in HP and Sp. Attack, or in Sp. Defense instead of Sp. Attack if you’re struggling. Tera Poison or Steel Clodsire with Water Absorb is a great teammate – in addition to full investment in HP and Sp. Defense, you can give it an Assault Vest to make it really difficult to take down. From there, you can run Acid Spray to lower 7 Star Primarina’s Sp. Defense to make Gholdengo’s moves hit harder. You can also run Mud-Slap to lower its accuracy and then Sludge Wave to deal a little bit of extra damage.
