7 Star Dragonite guide for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
The 7 Star Dragonite Tera Raid Battle event for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is now live, and it lasts until September 1. This time around, Dragonite is running Tera Normal, which means you should expect to see lots and lots of Extreme Speed attacks (and it also means you might want to bring a Ghost-type, or at least a Pokemon that resists Normal-type attacks). You have plenty of time to prepare yourself with one of the Dragonite counters we’ve listed here.
7 Star Dragonite guide
Like we mentioned earlier, this is a Tera Normal 7 Star Dragonite, so it’s only weak to Fighting-type moves. That makes the pool of potential counters much lower. Dragonite uses Extreme Speed, Scale Shot, Dragon Dance, and Earthquake. At the beginning of the match, it sets Rain Dance, uses Hurricane, and then Thunder. Once it uses them, though, it can’t use them again for the rest of the match. It also uses Draco Meteor once at low HP.
The 7 Star Dragonite Tera Raid Battle for Pokemon Scarlet / Violet here is particularly difficult, but a solid counter is Archaludon. Its Ability, Stamina, kicks in to raise its Defense every time it takes damage, which makes bulking up with Iron Defense much faster. If Dragonite happens to use Scale Shot, Archaludon’s Defense will be nearly maxed-out thanks to its Ability. You can then attack with Body Press, which deals increased damage that scales with the user’s Defense. We’d recommend an Impish nature, maxed-out IVs, 252 EVs in HP, and 252 EVs in Defense. You can also run Foul Play, Breaking Swipe, or Protect (if you have a teammate setting Psychic Terrain). Remember to make Archaludon’s Tera Type Fighting. Start the match by using Breaking Swipe and then when Dragonite puts its shield up, use Iron Defense once or twice and start Body Pressing. When Dragonite is at +6 Attack and -6 Defense (you can check in the menu), you can also use Foul Play to deal crazy-high damage.
A teammate who can Defense Cheer is also a great idea, since Archaludon is still weak to Ground. Bronzong with the Ability Levitate can set up Reflect with the Light Clay item, which will greatly increase Archaludon’s longevity. Bronzong can also use Iron Defense and Body Press if needed. It can also use Psychic Terrain to force Dragonite to use Earthquake or Scale Shot on Archaludon; the latter will increase its defense by 5 stages if it’s hit by a full Scale Shot. It’s important to note that Dragonite also lowers its own Defense with Scale Shot, which even further increases the power of Body Press.
