7 Star Feraligatr guide for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
The 7 Star Feraligatr Tera Raid Battle Event for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is live now, and we have a guide for the event. It continues from now until November 3, and then comes back for a second run from November 8 to November 10. This powerful opponent is running Tera Dark, which increases the strength of Feraligatr’s Sheer Force-boosted Crunch attacks. If you’re looking to take down this tough foe, check out our tips and strategies below.
7 Star Feraligatr guide
As mentioned earlier, 7 Star Feraligatr is running Tera Dark. It’s weak to Fairy, Fighting, and Bug-type moves. For its standard moves, Feraligatr can pick from a Tera Dark-boosted Crunch, Liquidation, Psychic Fangs, and Ice Punch anytime. It uses Swords Dance at the beginning of the battle, Earthquake just once when it has 70 percent health remaining, and Dragon Dance once at half health. This limits the potential counters. Since it has Psychic Fangs, you cannot use Light Screen, Reflect, or Aurora Veil – Psychic Fangs breaks through all of them. And although Feraligatr may have Sheer Force, it does not remove Psychic Fangs’ screen-breaking effect.
Many potential counters get destroyed by one of Feraligatr’s moves. Zacian takes too much from Liquidation, while Chesnaught and Kommo-o get KO’d by Psychic Fangs and Ice Punch. Instead, we’ve come up with a more specialized counter team: Gastrodon and Archaludon. For Gastrodon, you will want a Tera Fairy Level 100 Gastrodon with a Bold nature. Make sure it has Storm Drain as its Ability so it’s immune to Feraligatr’s Liquidation. Give it Clear Smog to remove 7 Star Feraligatr’s stat boost, Chilling Water to further reduce its attack, and then Acid Armor and Mud Slap for its last two moves. And then an Ability Shield for an item! Gastrodon’s goal is to use Clear Smog to remove Swords Dance and Dragon Dance, and then spam Chilling Water to lower the Attack of 7 Star Feraligatr.
Archaludon has to be Tera Fighting, which might seem backwards given it’s weak to Psychic Fangs. However, we want Stamina as its ability so its defense increases every time it takes damage. Give it Iron Defense and Body Press, and at the start of the match, use Iron Defense three times and then spam Body Press while Terastallizing as soon as possible. Gastrodon will keep Feraligatr’s Attack low, letting Archaludon move in for a KO. It’s a very specific setup, and you do need a friend to help you. But 7 Star Feraligatr easily neutralizes regular Fighting-types with Psychic Fangs, as well as all strategies involving Reflect, Light Screen, or Aurora Veil. Archaludon is also a great Pokemon to have for raids, as you can tweak it a little bit and have it put in work.
Were you able to defeat 7 Star Feraligatr with a different Pokemon we didn’t mention here? If so, feel free to share the counter you came up with in the comments down below. If you want to read up on more Pokemon Scarlet and Violet guides, we have a ton of them archived over at our master list.
