Monster Mania 2 side quest guide for Mario & Luigi Brothership
Today, we’re looking at Monster Mania 2, the second in a series of rather challenging side quests in Mario & Luigi: Brothership. Whereas the first of these quests pits you against a group of nearly-invincible Krodes, this one sees you fighting a group of Hydro Seedles with high HP and the ability to completely restore their health in a single turn. There’s certainly a trick to getting through this one, and the key will be to use abilities you’ll have unlocked very recently.
Monster Mania 2 side quest guide
If you wind up having trouble with the Monster Mania 2 side quest, you technically can come back later when you’re at a higher level and thus deal more damage. This time around, you’ll have to fight three Hydro Seedles, and they have incredibly high health stats. They can also heal 999 HP per turn, so your goal is to take them out one by one (because sometimes they don’t heal each other, leaving one vulnerable to being defeated). From the start, you should equip the Performance Bonus and Kaboom Attack Battle Plugs, if you have them. By this point in the game, you’ll have unlocked the Bomb Derby and Jump Helmet special moves, and you’ll be needing both of these to win.
With Mario, you will want to use Bomb Derby to attack all the enemies. We’d recommend maybe practicing this move beforehand, as the timing will be tricky since you’ll only just have received this move (unless you’re coming back later to clear the quest). With Luigi, we would then recommend using Jump Helmet on the middlemost Hydro Seedle so that Kaboom Attack damages the other two as well. By repeating this (and earning back some BP with the Performance Bonus Battle Plug), you will eventually defeat one of them. When this happens, switch up your Battle Plugs to add Dizzying Attack. From here, you’ll want to use standard Jump or Hammer attacks until one of the enemies becomes dizzy. When it does, use your strongest special moves once again and focus on the Hydro Seedle that is not dizzy. This will allow you to take out the second one, and when a Hydro Seedle is on its own it cannot heal itself. It should be easy from there, and you’ll have officially cleared the Monster Mania 2 side quest!
