Dueling Geniuses side quest guide for Mario & Luigi: Brothership

Today, we’re looking at Dueling Geniuses, which is one of the later missable side quests you will take on in Mario & Luigi: Brothership. It’s at the very end of the game, somewhere around 35 hours in. Given that this side quest takes place near the final boss and ending, you may want to bookmark this page and come back later to avoid potential story spoilers.

Dueling Geniuses side quest guide

After you complete Jellyfish Island, Adaphne will either remain on Jellyfish Island or come to Shipshape Island depending on your story choices a little bit earlier. Talking to her at either location will begin the Dueling Geniuses side quest. Basically, she is making a new pair of boots and needs Zokket Alloys to complete them. Adaphne will then give you the Adaphne Scope. Once she tells you this, you can go see Technikki on either Shipshape Island or Jellyfish Island and she’ll upgrade the Adaphne Scope into the Technikki Scope Deluxe, which will make Zok Troops drop items more frequently.

From there, you can visit a Great Lighthouse Island (we went with the fourth one) and battle Zok Troopers until they drop three Zokket Alloys. Use the Anti-Zokket and Loot Booster Battle Plugs to speed up the process, and once you’ve got three Alloys, you can head back Adaphne. She and Technikki will then collaborate on a new pair of boots that drastically increase the power of jump attacks.
