Japan’s best-selling games of January 2025
New data provided by Famitsu gives us a look at Japan’s best-selling games of January 205.
Although we did see the launch of Donkey Kong Country Returns HD, it settles for second place. Super Mario Party Jamboree, which has been dominant since November, continues its run at the top.
Tales of Graces f Remastered was a new release, but it did not make the top five. The Nintendo Switch version comes in at #8 at 18,036 copies sold.

5. [NSW] Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake – 54,080 / 984,585
As is typically the case, Nintendo was the top publisher for January. The company sold 682,000 units of software at retail in Japan last month. Bandai Namco and Square Enix were in second and third at 107,000 units and 104,000 copies respectively.
Finally, in terms of hardware, Nintendo Switch was at the top and has now sold over 35 million units in Japan. 260,447 units were sold last month, down from 450,000 in December. However, December had the holidays to provide a boost as well as an extra week of tracking.
