Switch 1 not compatible with Nintendo Switch 2 dock

Although it probably won’t come as a surprise to many, Switch 1 won’t be compatible with the new dock Nintendo is making for Switch 2.

Nintendo posted that information this week. The company confirms that no model of the original Switch works. You cannot use a standard Nintendo Switch, Switch Lite, or Switch OLED with the Switch 2 dock.

Some may have been holding out hope about compatibility since both systems have the same thickness. Still, there’s more going on with the new dock that just doesn’t make it possible.

At first glance, the Nintendo Switch 1 and 2 docks look very similar, though the new one has a more round appearance. Other than that, for the Switch 2 version, a fan is included to help keep the system cool. A LAN port is also built in.
