Cyberpunk 2077 frame rate resolution

Digital Foundry shared another technical analysis for a Nintendo Switch 2 game, this time going in-depth with Cyberpunk 2077 and covering the latest tidbits like frame rate and resolution. CD Projekt Red has delivered an impressive port in many ways, though it’s not without some drawbacks. The Phantom Liberty expansion in particular is where there are more struggles.

Here’s the full roundup of details:

– Port handled directly by CD Projekt Red
– 30 FPS quality mode, 40 FPS performance modes offered while playing docked / portable
– Docked play targets 1080p with DLSS
– Cyberpunk 2077 quality mode resolution on Switch 2 renders between 720p to 1080p
– Docked performance mode goes to more flexible 540p to 1080p in order to maintain 40 FPS
– Portable play drops this further to 450p to 810p in quality mode via DLSS
– 360p to 720p rang in performance mode while playing portably, reconstructing to 720p with DLSS
– Heavy action with lots of motion can cause DLSS to struggle hiding lower resolutions
– Visual settings are mostly the same between docked and portable
– Reflections in mirrors take a hit in clarity while using performance mode
– Switch 2 version borrows graphical settings from last and current gen consoles
– Same texture quality setting as PS5
– Sometimes surpasses the Xbox Series S version for resolution
– Far better optimized than PS4 for pop-in
– NPC and vehicle density on par with PS4
– Interior settings on Switch 2 improved compared to PS4, but outdoor shadows are a step back
– For frame rate, hits 30 FPS in quality mode aside from the odd frame rate drops and worst case scenarios
– Phantom Liberty expansion causes more abundant 30 FPS drops and hitches
– For performance mode, shootouts and driving tend to drop to 30 FPS and even under instead of the 40 FPS target
– Portable frame rates largely the same in portable mode
– VRR support in portable mode helps with the drops caused in performance mode

We’ve included the full Cyberpunk 2077 Nintendo Switch 2 analysis below, which has more on the game’s frame rate, resolution, and further information.
