Ys X: Proud Nordics will support 120FPS on Nintendo Switch 2 with new mode
Japanese media have managed to get some hands-on time with Ys X: Proud Nordics, and we’re now hearing that this version of the game will support 120 frames per second.
A special performance mode is where players can get their hands on the ultra-smooth frame rate, according to Inside Games. This is in addition to the default mode that runs at 60 frames per second.
This is a significant improvement over the original Nintendo Switch version. Ys X targeted 30 FPS on the older console, though there could be dips. Now on Nintendo Switch 2, 60 FPS is the baseline – and we imagine many players will be interested in that new 120FPS mode for Ys X: Proud Nordics.
120 FPS titles on Nintendo Switch 2 have been limited thus far. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, which will have its own version for the new console this year, is one of the bigger upcoming ones.
Ys X: Proud Nordics is Falcom’s new version of the action RPG. It features new character abilities, bosses, and levels.
Ys X: Proud Nordics hits Nintendo Switch 2 in Japan on July 31, 2025. As of now there’s been no word on a western release, but if we had to guess, that news will follow soon. You can get a look at more Nintendo Switch 2 news here.
