Japan’s best-selling games of September 2025 – Mario Kart World still on top

New data provided by Famitsu gives us a look at Japan’s best-selling games of September 2025.

Mario Kart World retains its streak as the top seller. Also, for new releases, Everybody’s Golf Hot Shots sold just under 50,000 copies at retail to land at #3.

Below is the full list of Japan’s best-selling games of September 2025:

1. [NS2] Mario Kart World – 145,397 / 1,801,323
2. [PS5] Silent Hill f – 57,475 / NEW
3. [NSW] Everybody’s Golf Hot Shots – 46,590 / NEW
4. [NS2] Donkey Kong Bananza – 41,377 / 327,496
5. [NSW] Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar – 33,042 / 79,628

Nintendo tends to be the best-performing publisher in Japan, and that was the case again last month with the company selling 366,000 games at retail. Bandai Namco was in second at 129,000 games sold followed by Konami at 91,000.

Looking at hardware, Nintendo Switch 2 sales were down from 319,690 to 175,542, but it’s still the best-selling system. Nintendo Switch 1 sales fell from 94,517 units to 82,946 units.
