Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds confirms frame rate, resolution on Nintendo Switch 2
SEGA has shared exact specifications for the new Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, breaking down the frame rate and resolution. We have information for both docked and portable play.
The good news is that, for the most part, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will run at 60 frames per second on Nintendo Switch 2. That’s an upgrade over Nintendo Switch which limited things to 30 FPS. The main exception is that 4-player split-screen reduced the action to 30 FPS.
The full Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Nintendo Switch 2 Edition frame rate and resolution breakdown is as follows:
- Docked mode, single and 2-player split-screen: 2560×1440@60fps
- Docked mode, 4-player split-screen: 2560×1440@30fps
- Handheld mode, single and 2-player split-screen: 1920×1080@60fps
- Handheld mode, 4-player split-screen: 1920×1080@30fps
SEGA has commented on a couple of other things as well. First, while there’ll be a retail release (with the full game on cartridge), there aren’t any plans for a collector’s edition through Limited Run Games. Cross-platform matchmaking will be included. Finally, the estimated size is 16GB (we’ll give you the final amount once we have it).
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Nintendo Switch 2 Edition launches on December 4, 2025 digitally (physical later). We have the first trailer for this version here.
