Baldur’s Gate 3 looking unlikely for Nintendo Switch 2, Larian will “certainly consider” new Divinity for the system
Larian participated in a Reddit AMA today in which the studio commented on the possibility of both Baldur’s Gate 3 and its new Divinity game for Nintendo Switch 2.
In the case of Baldur’s Gate 3, it unfortunately looks like that won’t be happening. According to director Swen Vincke, the team “would have loved” to see a port, but added that “it wasn’t our decision to make.”
Vincke didn’t elaborate further, but we may have some insight elsewhere. Nate the Hate, who has been in the know when it comes to gaming rumors, wrote on social media today that Larian’s “relationship with Hasbro/Wizards of the Coast is not healthy.” That could be the big thing holding up a Nintendo Switch 2 port of Baldur’s Gate 3 here.
Where things are looking slightly more optimistic is Divinity on Nintendo Switch 2. Larian just revealed the new game last month so there’s not too much to say about it at present. However, technical director Bert van Semmertier noted that he and the rest of the team “love” Nintendo’s new console and “will certainly consider Switch 2 for the next Divinity game.”
Divinity: Original Sin 2 previously came to Nintendo Switch. A new Nintendo Switch 2 Edition just released last month.
Would you like to see either of these games on Nintendo Switch 2? Let us know in the comments.
