Super Mario World secret ending

It’s been 35 years since the launch of Super Mario World, and one of Nintendo’s most iconic games continues to surprise fans even after all this time. Some players are just now learning about a secret ending of sorts and it’s far from the traditional happy one in which Princess Peach is rescued from Bowser and everything turns out fine.

With this ending, Yoshi can actually eat Princess Peach, leaving Mario and his green companion staring at each other forever. The finding comes from switchpalacecorner, which gained much traction after it was relayed yesterday by Supper Mario Broth.

To achieve this outcome, glitches are required, as it’s normally impossible to enter the final Bowser battle while riding Yoshi. However, by using a glitch that places Yoshi into the reserve item box, which typically stores items like the Cape Feather or a Super Mushroom, the trick becomes possible. The Super Mushroom plays a key role here, as precise timing is needed for Yoshi to attempt to eat Peach at the exact moment the Mushroom drops and is replaced by the princess.

As expected, this isn’t an easy trick to pull off, especially while defeating Bowser at the same time. You can check out the scene for yourself via Supper Mario Broth’s post below.
