A breakdown of Smash Bros. Ultimate’s compression during development and elements of the file size
As part of Bandai Namco’s developer talks at CEDEC, we had heard that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate initially weighed in at roughly 60GB before it was ultimately compressed to about 15GB. We now have a better understanding of what took up that space.
Here’s a rundown of the initial size, development size, and final size as well as what took up that data:
Raw data – 61.5GB
– Resources: 42GB
– BGM: 17.6GB
– Other: 1.5GB
Development ROM size – 21.5GB
– Resources: 14.6GB
– BGM: 5GB
– Other: 1.5GB
Final ROM size – 15GB
– Resources: 11.2GB
– BGM: 1.2GB
– Other: 1.5GB
As for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s final size, here’s the rundown of the elements that took up the nearly 15GB of space:
