A few, official Shadow of the Eternals details, footage next week
Since Shadow of the Eternals’ leak, Precursor Games has shared a few, official details about its game.
The crowdfunding campaign will officially begin on Monday. Precursor will be looking to raise $1.5 million – not $1.1 million as originally thought – for a total of 12 episodes. Numerous stretch goals will be included.
Precursor’s “primary goal for Shadow of the Eternals is to raise 1.5M dollars. Any money raised beyond this will contribute to stretch goals that go beyond the first episode, including future episodes, additional characters, additional platforms and in-game perks. The more money that we raise, the more we can deliver, which is a win for everyone.”
While not all information from the test page leak can be taken at face value, it seems as though a significant amount of details were spot on. Wii U and PC have been reconfirmed as initial platforms for release, for instance.
The company also handed out a description that is nearly identical to the one discovered through the leak:
When Detective Paul Becker is called to one of the bloodiest gang massacres in Louisiana state history, only two survivors remain from a brutal conflict between two rival cults. As Becker begins his interrogations of the suspects, their combined recollections will uncover the truth about the ‘Eternals’.
Featuring an ensemble cast of heroes and villains, Shadow of the Eternals will span over 2500 years of history throughout Egypt, England, Hungary, and the United States. Players will question the perception of reality as they try to balance the mechanics of combat, magick, and sanity events to progress through the adventure.
Shadow of the Eternals will take players on a memorable journey throughout time; weaving historical fact with disturbing fiction to create an experience unlike any other.
Precursor also told IGN the following:
“We are overwhelmed by the level of interest for Shadow of the Eternals. It did surprise us that some inaccurate information was leaked. However, we cannot wait for the official unveil on Monday with complete and accurate details through IGN and our website.”
We’ll be getting a first look at Shadow of The Eternals next week when IGN debuts gameplay footage. The site also plans to post an interview with Precursor chief creative officer Denis Dyack (what does that mean for Silicon Knights?).
