Ai Shark, formerly GameShark, claims Switch 2 is launching in September 2024 (update)
Original: Switch 2 speculation won’t stop until Nintendo makes an official announcement, and the rumor hill is heating up again with Ai Shark claiming that the console will launch in September 2024.
The news is tucked away in a press release about another matter, which is that Altec Lansing is the first licensee of Ai Shark’s gaming software. Furthermore, Ai Shark will be bringing back the GameShark brand in a different way. As old-school gamers will remember, GameShark is a series of cheat code devices. But now with Ai Shark, it’s AI-enhanced software that is designed to aid “individuals in improving their gameplay over time.”
The note about the Switch 2 launch is only a single line of the press release. Some will automatically believe the press release, but we’d caution that this could very well be a random claim. We do find it hard to believe that this company would have access to important Switch 2 launch date information.
This is also a good time to remind folks in general that Switch 2 rumors are only going to continue (and probably get more ridiculous) as the days and weeks go on. Be cautious of what you read elsewhere. We try to be very selective about which rumors we cover and tend to skip many that are reported by other outlets.
Update: An Ai Shark spokesperson told Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier they’re just guessing about the next Nintendo console’s release date.
