Animal Crossing: New Horizons goes back to limiting time travel for early access to events

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Unlike previous games, Nintendo has been taking a tougher stance on time traveling in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Players have not been able to freely fast-forward the time or day in order to access seasonal events early – for the most part anyway.

For the initial launch of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, that time traveling technique simply didn’t work at all since the player’s clock would be checked to ensure that it was accurate. Interestingly though, it has not been enforced as of late. Players discovered that there was no such restriction in place with recent events like Halloween.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons just received a new update that paves the way for new events, and it now appears things are back to the way they were originally. Turkey Day is pretty close, but you’ll need to wait until the day that it actually happens. You can’t change the clock to participate early.

For those that are curious, it’s still possible to travel backward to events that have already happened in the real world.
