Articuno location guide for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Articuno location Pokemon Scarlet Violet

Today, we’re finishing up our coverage of returning Legendary Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet with an Articuno location guide. As a reminder, you can only catch returning Legendary Pokemon after clearing The Indigo Disk’s main story. If you don’t have the DLC, you won’t be able to catch any of them.

Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres are the original trio of Legendary Pokemon introduced in the very first generation. As with most of their catchable appearances, none of these Pokemon are exclusive to either Pokemon Scarlet or Violet – you can catch all three Legendary birds regardless of the game you’re playing.

To “activate” the Articuno location shown above, you need to have a corresponding Articuno snack in your party. To get this, you’ll have to talk to an NPC named Snacksworth who will appear in Blueberry Academy’s lobby. Every time you clear either 10 Solo Quests or 1 Group Quest, he’ll give you a snack that corresponds to a random Legendary Pokemon. There isn’t a way to manipulate this to get the snack you want, so you’ll have to clear quests over and over again until you get the Articuno snack.

Once you’ve got it, Articuno spawns on Glaseado Mountain in the area shown above. It appears at Level 70 and it knows Hurricane and Blizzard as its main attacks. They’re strong enough as is, but Articuno also packs Sheer Cold. Though this move has low accuracy, it’s likely to one-hit KO one of your Pokemon as you continue to throw Poke Balls at it. Bring a Pokemon with Sturdy like Bastiodon, who also resists Flying and Ice. If you’re looking to catch Articuno in a matching Poke Ball, try a Dive Ball!

In addition to Articuno’s location, we have guides available for the rest of the Legendary Pokemon locations in Scarlet and Violet too. You can find our master list of them through this link. Feel free to let us know if you have any suggestions for future guides, too.
