Asteroids: Recharged gets December release date, debut trailer
Asteroids: Recharged, which was first announced for Switch a couple of months ago, has secured a final release date. Publisher Atari as well as developers Adamvision Studios and SneakyBox Studios announced today that the game is arriving on December 14.
Asteroids: Recharged is a new take on the 1979 arcade classic, complete with an updated visual look. Composer Megan McDuffee is also on board for the game’s soundtrack which is inspired by the original’s tense mood, but with a synthwave flavor. Another features is the inclusion of two-player simultaneous play.
For those that missed out on the original game, it’s about piloting a spaceship in a segment of space packed with careening asteroids and enemy saucers bent on destruction. You’ll need to navigate through the debris and laser blasts while also picking up powerups, including the shot-deflecting Reflector, defensive Orbiting Bullets, devastating Mega Lasers, and Side Attack shots. It’s possible to compete for high scores and complete various challenges that use the game’s powerups and enemies in brand new ways.
We have a trailer for Asteroids: Recharged below.
Asteroids: Recharged will be sold digitally for Switch via the eShop. The game will cost $9.99. English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Japanese, Korean, and simplified and traditional Chinese language text will be supported.
