Capcom slashes earnings forecast following Resident Evil 6 sales, Monster Hunter 4 delay
Resident Evil 6 sales haven’t met expectations. Capcom also just announced today that Monster Hunter 4 is being delayed to Summer 2013, into the next fiscal year. Because of these two reasons, the company has lowered its earnings forecast for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2013.
Originally, a forecast of 105,000 million yen in net sales was set. Capcom is now revising the figure to 93,500 million yen, down 11 percent. Sales, operating income and net income are all less than what was previously forecast.
Capcom commented:
“Sales of the major new title Resident Evil 6 were initially strong, but subsequently weakened. As a result, sales for this title are certain to fall short of the plan. In addition, the launch of Monster Hunter 4, which was scheduled for March 2013, has been pushed back to the next fiscal year in order to further raise the quality of the game.”
