Not all versions of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed will feature the same characters.

New comments from Sumo Digital’s Steve Lycett indicate that there will be 29 characters in total across all of the games. But some versions will offer a roster in the “high 20s” while others will be in the “low 20s”.

Lycett said:

“The thing is, different people think of different things when you say ‘How many characters are in the game’.

“Are we talking about playable choices, drivers, vehicle forms, which platform are we talking about, what?

“Me, I go with actual playable choices on the character select. Over all the different platforms, this totals up to 29 actual playable choices. But that doesn’t mean that there are 29 playable choices in all platforms (in fact no single platform has all 29). Some drop down to the low 20?s, some instead have high 20?s.

“Why is this? Well some platforms have characters that are unique to that platform. I’m not going to say which, that’s part of the fun of the reveals! Some are SEGA characters, some are not. Don’t bother asking :p”

Thanks to the latest issue of Jump, we know who Square Enix will be including in Bravely Default’s as the title’s fourth main character. The mystery person is, according to the magazine, Ringabel.

Ringabel is described as a young man without his memory who is journeying in hopes of courting a girl. He’s obtained the “D Notebook” which is capable of giving him prophesies of things to come.

Other information included in Jump pertains to the summon system. Players can take advantage of Wi-Fi (unclear if it’s StreetPass or manual Wi-Fi) to exchange characters with each other. These characters can later be used in battle through summons.

Lastly, Jump has confirmed that a fourth demo is on the way. It will be available sometime soon.

Thanks to 4Him for the tip.

Responding to rumors that EA would be saying goodbye to CEO John Riccitiello, the company confirmed today that the conjecture wasn’t factual.

Electronic Arts’ chairman Larry Probst told stockholders “there is no plan to replace John Riccitiello as CEO.”

Probst stated:

“The board has a very high level of confidence in John and the management team. They have done a really good job of exceeding the operating plans in the last few years.

“We take a look at the management team on a regular systematic basis and we talk about succession planning in the longer terms. At this point in time there is no plan to replace John Riccitiello as CEO.”

Whispers regarding Riccitiello’s removal suggested that he would be asked to step down from his position following the July 30 earnings call. EA chief operating officer Peter Moore was rumored to be taking over as CEO.

Skylanders Giants will hit store shelves on October 21. That’s the North American date. In Europe, the game is due out on October 19.

This is for the Wii/3DS versions of the game, by the way. It’s unclear when the Wii U edition launches.

What?

The last time I heard the headline “Wii out of stock” was probably two years ago, so seeing this come up in my browser was understandably something of a surprise! Apparently it’s true though; several online retailers are reporting that the Wii is in backorder, despite the fact that it appears to be readily available in physical stores nationwide.

No idea why, but it’s true.
