SNES Mouse Switch Online

Based on a recent datamine, it’s possible that Nintendo Switch Online could add support for the Super NES Mouse in the future.

Dataminer LuigiBlood has been poking through the latest Nintendo Switch Online update for the SNES app that went live last night. Four more games were added, which you can read about here.

As for Super NES Mouse support, it has apparently seen a big rework within the code. For example, both controller ports are now included instead of just one. It also looks like things were updated so that inputs of SNES Mouse devices could be replaced.

Nintendo Switch Online supporting the Super NES Mouse would be a neat addition, but not revolutionary. Mario Paint and Mario & Wario were the only two games that required the accessory. A bunch of other titles did support it as an option, though many of them never left Japan.

Note that nothing has been confirmed officially by Nintendo at this time. The datamine could be a sign of things to come, though it could also be an internal experiment.
