There’s a rumor going around that the recently revealed Deadpool game will get its own version on Wii U. However, we should probably try to clear up the confusion.
Simply put, Deadpool isn’t confirmed for Wii U.
The rumor seems to be based on a Q&A transcription made on an official live blog this past weekend during the Marvel video games panel. Following the Deadpool reveal, one fan asked the following as part of the panel’s Q&A session:
“Deadpool is awesome. I wanted to ask about the Kinect game. Can I play? (a fan in a wheelchair asks)”
That was followed up with this response:
“You will be able to play on the WiiU!”
Some people mistakenly took this comment as a confirmation that Deadpool is in development for Wii U. Heck, it even fooled us for a few minutes. But the answer (and question for that matter) actually referred to Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth, a title that is in the works for Wii U and Xbox 360 (Kinect).
Just to make sure we weren’t going crazy, we contacted Activision about the rumor. When asked if Deadpool had been confirmed for Wii U, the company said “No platforms have been officially announced at this time.”
So there you have it! While we do hope Deadpool will be released for Wii U, nothing is set in stone.
