Europa update adds Zen Mode and more
Europa went live on Switch this week, which is topped off by a new Zen Mode. Switch players can access the patch via version 1.4.0.
Zen Mode is for casual players looking to explore the world without dealing with threats. Additionally, a chapter select has been added for those that beat the game once. UX improvements, tweaks, polish, and bug fixes are also included.
Here’s the full rundown of the Europa update with the new Zen Mode and more:
The first big one to note: we added a “Zen Mode”! This brings a whole new feel to the world of Europa, for any players who just want to move through the world peacefully without any threats. Gardeners won’t attack, turrets won’t shoot at you, mines won’t blow you up – just chill vibes all the way through. We’re really hoping this helps open up the Europa experience to even more players and play styles.
We also added a Chapter select function, so that when you’ve completed the game, you’ll be able to jump back into any levels you like, carrying over your progress from your existing playthrough – Journal, Bestiary and Emerald collections will all carry over. This should be great for any of you hunting down achievements! For the Emerald Collectors in particular, we’ve added some info to the Emerald Room near the end of the game that should give you an idea of where the emeralds you’ve missed might be. When you do jump back into the game, any emeralds you’ve previously collected will now show as greyed out “ghost emeralds” to make it super clear which ones are the ones you’re missing.
On top of this we’ve made a ton of bug fixes, UX improvements, tweaks and polish across the whole game. We’re going to be keeping a very close eye here, on the Steam forums, and on our Discord and will be doing everything we can to make sure we can deliver a great experience for as many of you as possible, so keep your eyes out here for more updates and news very soon!
