Footage emerges of cancelled Star Wars Battlefront 3 on Wii

Many years after the project was cancelled, footage has emerged showing Star Wars Battlefront 3 running on Wii.

Free Radical Archives shared their findings online today. The group is not affiliated with Free Radical itself (the studio that was originally in charge of development).

The footage here is based on a build made just over a week before the game was cancelled. In fact, this could be the last Wii build of the game tested. It now looks like a group of fans will be looking to restore this version of the game as they iron out bugs and other issues.

Star Wars Battlefront 3 was in development for a couple of years before it was ultimately cancelled. This was Free Radical’s crack at the series as Pandemic Studios was in charge previously. LucasArts pulled the plug even though the project was apparently very close to completion.

It’s never actually been entirely clear why the game was cancelled. LucasArts did see a change in management during the same year, which could have impacted things. Also, while never confirmed, it was previously claimed that Free Radical had missed deadlines and its relationship with LucasArts had been deteriorating.
