KONAMI’s Famed Amphibian is Back in 3D on Nintendo 3DS™ Handheld System

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. – June 2, 2011 – Just in time to mark the 30th anniversary of the original arcade release, the enduring classic Frogger is back criss-crossing busy streets, dodging perilous enemies from cars to crocodiles, and coming at gamers in 3D! Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. today announced Frogger’s timeless run-and-dodge gameplay is arriving this September for the new glasses-free 3D-capable Nintendo 3DS™ handheld system.

With all-new graphics, novel level design, and new friends to help guide Frogger to safety, skillful players will enjoy six new worlds to explore over 60 uniquely challenging stages. In Frogger 3D, Frogger ventures from the streets and sidewalks of his hometown to new and exotic locations including New York, the Far East, and even other dimensions.

In Single Player mode, gamers must dash, jump and duck past life-threatening hazards. By teaming up with some of Frogger’s special frog friends in certain levels, players can also destroy obstacles, absorb damage or illuminate dark spaces as they progress through the game. Also, players will have all new elements and environments to maneuver through as Frogger makes his way up skyscrapers showcasing his leaping ability, and even crossing a very lively sushi bar avoiding predators trying to put a halt to Frogger’s progression.

For big-time excitement, players can show off their skills in Street Pass battles where the object is to avoid becoming road-kill by scooting past speeding vehicles zooming along multiple lanes of opposing traffic. In Forever mode, fans of Frogger will get Déjà-vu when looking at the maps but the friendly confines of Frogger’s safety zones are removed. Players will have to progress through infinite boards as they try to attain Frogger immortality and land in the top spot on Street Pass rankings. Players will also be able to change up gameplay by competing in 4 player matches.

First introduced in 1981, Frogger is widely considered a classic and was noted for both its novel gameplay and theme. For more information about Frogger and its 30th Anniversary celebration activities, please bookmark www.konami.com/frogger.
