In commemoration of reaching 300 consecutive weeks of new Arcade Archives game releases, Hamster has announced the next two games Arcade Archives titles coming to Switch. These will be Arcade Archives Galaxian and Arcade Archives Tetris The Grand Master.

These specific games have been chosen as they represent notable eras of arcade gaming. Specifically, Galaxian will be the first Arcade Archives game that originally released in the 1970s, while Tetris The Grand Master will be the first 32-bit Arcade Archives title, representing a jump in arcade technology.

For more information on both of these games, check the overviews below.

Galaxian is the classic shooting game originally released by Namco back in 1979. You take control of a spaceship and try shoot down the waves of aliens barreling at you. Deftly dodge enemy aliens and destroy their formation to get the highest score. Shooting aliens directly on top of you will earn you more points, and shooting down the Galboss flagship at the top of every wave will provide a large boost to your score.

Tetris The Grand Master, an iteration of the classic puzzle game Tetris, was originally released by Arika in 1998. Interestingly, this game places a particular focus on evaluating player skill, with the core of the game being to challenge yourself and obtaining the highest player grade, eventually culminating into the elusive grade of Grand Master. Otherwise, the standard block-dropping Tetris gameplay is pretty what would be expected, although the difficulty does ramp up massively the longer you play for.

Arcade Archives Galaxian will release on Switch November 24, while Arcade Archives Tetris The Grand Master will release the following week on December 1. Both should be available on the eShop at the standard Arcade Archives price of $7.99 / €6.99 / £6.29.
