Ho-Oh location guide in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
Today, we’re continuing our coverage of Legendary Pokemon locations in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet with a Ho-Oh location guide. These Legendary Pokemon can only be accessed via the Indigo Disk, and we’ve also cataloged each of their locations on Paldea’s map.
Ho-Oh and Lugia are Generation II’s signature Legendary Pokemon. Unlike previous games in the series, neither Ho-Oh nor Lugia are version exclusive. This means you can catch both of these Pokemon regardless of the version of the game you’re playing. Like all of the other Legendary Pokemon in the Indigo Disk, you can only access Ho-Oh from an NPC named Snacksworth who is somehow capable of summoning Legendary Pokemon to Paldea.
Ho-Oh location guide
Snacksworth appears at the entrance to Blueberry Academy after you clear the DLC’s main story. Every time you clear either 1 Group Quest or 10 Solo Quests, you will receive a random snack that attracts a specific Legendary Pokemon to a certain spot in Paldea. The snack you receive is random, so if you’re specifically looking for Ho-Oh we’d recommend finishing a bunch of quests all at once. Do note that Group Quests can only be completed via the Union Circle, which means you can’t get every Legendary Pokemon unless you have friends to play with.
Once you’ve obtained the Ho-Oh snack, your Ho-Oh location spawns at the southwest corner of Paldea. It’s near Alfornada, but it’s across a big mountain on top of a cliff near a waterfall. Take a look at the map image above if you need a better look. Ho-Oh appears at Level 70 and is a little bit challenging to catch. It’s got Sunny Day plus Sacred Fire, a combination that will deal great damage to Pokemon who don’t resist Fire-type moves. It also has Recover, so if try to whittle it down with False Swipe it will just restore its health over and over. It can only do that five times before it runs out of PP, however.
In addition to Ho-Oh’s location, we have guides available for the rest of the Legendary Pokemon locations too. You can find our master list of them through this link. Feel free to let us know if you have any suggestions for future guides, too.
