Hyper Gunsport announced for Switch
Publisher Hitcents and developer Necrosoft Games recently announced Hyper Gunsport, a mixture of volleyball and gunplay. It’s described as an “action-sports-arcade” title.
Hyper Gunsport “is set in a future where humans have grown tired of conflict, and all weaponry is banned. Disputes between countries are now settled with The World’s Game: Gunsport. Guns are now only used for one thing: to shoot a ball into a goal.”
The main gameplay of Hyper Gunsport involves splitting players into two teams, with both trying to shoot a ball into their opponent’s goal. There are different positions, including Keepers that don’t move but can fire more frequently, along with Strikers in the front that can move and jump but can’t fire as frequently.
When the ball crosses the net in either direction, it’s worth one additional point. When both teammates hit the ball at the same time, a “focus shot” occurs, and the ball goes twice as fast. When their special gauge fills up, teams gain access to special attacks, with limited shots. The game has seven teams with unique weapons as well as seven stages with unique gimmicks.
Hyper Gunsport will have a few different features and modes, including a single-player and co-op story mode, 2v2 multiplayer versus, and support for AI bots. The story mode offers cutscenes at the beginning and end of an 8-round tournament, unique per team.
Here’s a trailer for the game:
Hyper Gunsport is currently in development for Switch and other platforms. It’s targeting a 2022 release.
