Japan’s top 10 best-selling games of 2024, hardware rankings
New data from Famitsu not only provided the top ten best-selling games of 2024 in Japan, but also hardware rankings.
The two best performers were both released towards the end of the year. Super Mario Party Jamboree sold over 950,000 copies at retail and Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake was just slightly below that (looking strictly at Nintendo Switch sales). Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom also makes the list with close to 400,000 units.

9. [PS5] Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth – 358,353
10. [NSW] Powerful Pro Baseball 2024-2025 – 341,908 / NEW
In terms of hardware rankings, Nintendo Switch took the top spot with 3,109,103 units sold – the lifetime total is 34,895,759. The rest of the 2024 rankings are PlayStation 5 at 1,454,149 units, Xbox Series X and S at 117,594 units, and PS4 at 13,728 units.
