Little Nightmares Enhanced Edition upgrade for Nintendo Switch players unavailable because of “technical constraints”

Little Nightmares Enhanced Edition Nintendo Switch upgrade

If you own Little Nightmares on Nintendo Switch, you won’t be able to upgrade to the new Enhanced Edition on Switch 2 – so you have to buy the game again. Bandai Namco has now commented on the decision.

In an FAQ, the company said that “technical constraints” prevented the upgrade. This goes against what’s happening on other platforms. For example, those who own the original 2017 version on PS4 will be able to upgrade to the PS5 Enhanced Edition for free.

Bandai Namco said in the FAQ:

“Due to technical constraints, owners of Nintendo Switch consoles and Little Nightmares (2017) won’t be able to get access to Little Nightmares Enhanced Edition. They will need to buy again the game on Nintendo Switch 2. As a reminder, Little Nightmares Enhanced Edition is only playable on Nintendo Switch 2 and not Nintendo Switch.”

Little Nightmares Enhanced Edition launches for October 10, 2025 and you can learn more about it here. Little Nightmares 3 comes out on the same day – check out a trailer here.
