Lots of Shin Megami Tensei IV details, screenshots

Dengeki published a massive piece about Shin Megami Tensei IV. The article contains a bunch of new screenshots from the game as well as brand new information.

Screenshots and details are posted below.

– Enemies will chase you when they see you
– Different enemy graphics on the map correspond to the enemy types you’ll take on in battle
– Humanoid, avian, beastly, and childlike listed as the different map types
– You’ll take a lot of damage at first
– If you set up a charge account with Charon, he’ll automatically pop up after you obtain enough Macca to take it from you
– Most of your money seems to be obtained by selling off loot you find in dungeons
– Obtain loot from certain locations in dungeons
– Loot respawns over time
– Proprietor of the armory in Mikado is named “Q” (matches the bar owner’s name both in that it is a single letter and a movie reference)
– Burroughs App is similar to the app system in SJ and SH (
– New Apps become available as the hero levels up and as the story progresses
– Use App Points gained from leveling up and opening chests to to obtain apps
– Demons will only try to mutate skills if you have a Skill Converter app installed
– One app will make your team automatically target the enemy’s weakness during autobattle
– Smirking is a tremendous boon and has a huge impact on your combat capabilities
– No more lunar phases
– Can now talk to Dark-aligned demons like it ain’t no big deal
– Some demons don’t speak your language, so you’ll have to install the D-lingual app if you want to chat
– Can sometimes choose the perfect answer during a conversation and they’ll join you immediately
– Fuse anytime, anywhere
– Recommended fusions will be super helpful for newbies to get into it, and the fusion search feature is incredibly in-depth
– Special fusions need at least three demons
– Others may require four
– Fusion accidents can occur
– Pick which skills you want to pass on during fusion
– Whisper Events: MC can obtain skills from allies; doesn’t seem to include resistance skills
– Once a demon learns all its skills, it may start to show signs of transforming into a new demon
– Magnetite does not exist
– Summoning allies doesn’t cost you anything
– The Tech stat governs Gun-type damage
– Different weapon types have different attack ranges in the field
– All equipment adjusts your HP and MP
– Headgear and legwear raise your other stats

– Demon Kuda was also shown to be a Food-type in some of the videos
– Kaja spells can be stacked three times, sometimes allies get blown away by Zan-spells
