Mario vs. Donkey Kong gameplay

Gameplay is here from the final build of Mario vs. Donkey Kong on Switch. This marks the return of the GBA title with new content and features.

As a reminder, here’s what to expect:

The toys are back in town in Mario vs. Donkey Kong on Nintendo Switch! Solve puzzles and test your platforming smarts as you try to recover the stolen Mini-Marios. This remake of the Game Boy Advance game features all-new graphics, levels, and other new ways to play.

Donkey Kong wants the hot new Mini-Mario toy, but they’re all sold out. So he’s broken into the factory where they’re made and stolen the whole lot! It’s up to Mario to give chase and get them back.

Run, jump, climb, swing, handstand and even backflip through eight worlds. Find the key needed to reach the Mini-Mario, grab all the presents and see if you can earn a Perfect rating on every level!

Examine your surroundings closely, use your wits to figure out the best route, and unleash your platforming skills to overcome obstacles and dodge hazards.

In some levels, you’ll help guide a pack of Mini-Marios to the safety of their Toy Box, before facing off against Donkey Kong in an arcade-inspired showdown at the end of each world!

Pass a controller to another player to have them lend a hand as Toad in local co-op. Each level features a new twist when two players are involved, so Mario and Toad will have to work together if they’re to come out on 

There are a bunch of new features in Mario vs. Donkey Kong on Nintendo Switch, including:

  • Overhauled visuals and reorchestrated music
  • Two brand new worlds filled with unique mechanics
  • Two-player co-op
  • Casual Style mode for puzzling at your own pace
  • New 1-Up challenge levels
  • Time Attack mode
