Microsoft to continue releasing games on Nintendo platforms

This year, Microsoft really started to take the initiative to bring more of its Xbox-exclusive games to other platforms – and Switch certainly benefited. While rumors of Hi-Fi Rush didn’t pan out, the console did get Grounded and Pentiment. It sounds like Microsoft will continue this strategy going forward.

In a shareholders letter from Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, he reiterated that the company will continue putting its Xbox games on Switch as well as “new platforms.” When Nintendo comes out with Switch 2, it’s likely that Microsoft will jump at the opportunity to support the system.

Nadella mentioned in his letter:

“We are bringing great games to more people on more devices. With our acquisition of Activision Blizzard King, which closed October 2023, we’ve added hundreds of millions of players to our ecosystem. We now have 20 franchises that have generated over $1 billion in lifetime revenue—from Candy Crush, Diablo, and Halo, to Warcraft, Elder Scrolls, and Gears of War. And with Xbox cloud gaming, we continue to innovate to offer players more ways to experience the games they love – where, when, and how they want. Finally, we brought four of our fan-favorite titles to Nintendo Switch and Sony PlayStation for the first time, as we continue to extend our content to new platforms.”

It’s unclear what else we could see from Microsoft on Switch. Switch 2 could bring more possibilities to the table with the increased power it will bring. A 10-year deal was announced for Call of Duty on Nintendo platforms at the start of 2023, but so far nothing has come from that. If there’s something specific you’d like to see, let us know in the comments.
