HUNTING SEASON IS ABOUT TO BEGIN. ARE YOU READY?

Monster Hunter Tri launches on Wii this week

19th April 2010 – You’ve waited for so long. Preparing for this moment. Your weapons are polished and honed – ready to be used. You’re calm, but excited. And a little bit afraid… after all, you’ll soon be locked in mortal combat with intelligent monsters many times bigger and more powerful than you…

Now, the wait is nearly over.

On 23rd April, the much-anticipated Monster Hunter Tri roars into life across Europe on Wii. Hunters from across Europe will be able to join the adventure, journeying on their own individual quests as well as joining forces and competing in epic team battles, all set in a realistic, living and breathing ecosystem.

Immerse yourself in a realistic world, where every monster behaves uniquely, based on meticulous research of real world creatures. They weaken and become slower the longer they fight, and begin to prowl to find food for energy. Packs of smaller monsters attack larger monsters in a food-chain system where the strong feed on the weak – and you have the privilege of witnessing it first hand.

Or joining in.

To succeed, you’ll have to learn the skills required to be a successful hunter. After customising your hunter’s look at the start of the game, you’ll set off on various quests on which you’ll uncover new items to use. Carve horns, scales, fur, hide and bones from slain monsters to upgrade your armour and weapons…so that you’re ready to take on tougher challenges.

The game features new monsters and new environments, including underwater levels and marine-based monsters. There is also the introduction of new weapons such as the powerful Switch Axe to master throughout this unique and exhilarating world.

The game’s beautiful landscapes make this one of the most impressive-looking games on the system. An open-ended, quest-based storyline with multiple routes to progression offers a huge amount of repeat gameplay.

Multiplayer gameplay options include a two player, split screen co-operative mode as well as an online multiplayer mode that’s free for hunters in Europe. The game is fully functional with Wii Speak, the microphone-based accessory that allows you to speak to your friends over the internet. Share your knowledge of monsters’ weaknesses, discuss hunting strategy in real time, and even cry for help when needed or celebrate after a victorious battle. Play with Wii Remote and Nunchuk or the Classic Controller Pro to put the action right into your hands.

Monster Hunter Tri will be available at launch to buy as game only and also in two separate special bundles: one containing a black Classic Controller Pro and the Ultimate Hunter bundle which contains, the game, the Wii Speak accessory, a black Classic Controller Pro and a Lagicrus head figurine.

The Classic Controller Pro’s more traditional control configuration will afford gamers the ultimate Monster Hunting experience. The Classic Controller Pro comes complete with a second row of shoulder buttons and ergonomically friendly grips. The Classic Controller Pro plugs into the Wii Remote controller and players can enjoy wireless control.

The official launch event for Monster Hunter Tri will take place this Friday at GAME Oxford Street, where UK fans of the Monster Hunter series will be treated to a rare opportunity to meet the infamous series producer Ryozo Tsujimoto and director Kaname Fujiok as they come to London for an exclusive signing.
