Monster Mania 4 side quest guide for Mario & Luigi: Brothership
Today, we’re looking at Monster Mania 4, one of the tougher side quests found in Mario & Luigi: Brothership. In fact, the entire Monster Mania line of side quests is on the more difficult end of challenges you’ll find in the game. Monster Mania 1 and 2 both require some extra strategy, while Monster Mania 3 is unexpectedly easier. Monster Mania 4, however, is right back to challenging with a group of Bob-ombs that knock you out in one hit.
Monster Mania 4 side quest guide
As mentioned earlier, the Monster Mania 4 quest involves heading to Offandon Island, where you’ll find an NPC who challenges you to defeat a giant group of Bob-ombs. These Bob-ombs are different than normal ones, however, because their attacks will knock you out in one hit. Generally, the Bob-ombs will run towards you, and you’ll have to jump over it. After that, the Bob-omb will loop back around and start chasing Mario or Luigi. You’re technically supposed to jump the moment the Bob-omb would make contact with Mario or Luigi, but the timing here is tricky. If you can’t nail the timing, then stock up on defensive Battle Plugs like Protectus, Notdroppin, and Charge Bank. Damage Shield doesn’t work here, because the Bob-ombs will knock you out even with it active. By the way, the Bob-ombs don’t take more than 1 damage from your attacks, so your only option is to jump at the last minute so that the circling Bob-omb runs back into the crowd of its fellow Bob-ombs and explodes, damaging them. It’s also important to note that Easy-Peasy Counters isn’t a great solution, because the Bob-omb will simply wait underneath you during your hover jump if you didn’t get the timing right.
Overall, this is a tough quest, but it’s certainly possible to cheese with the defensive Battle Plugs and a little bit of luck on your side.
