More talk of adding video recording feature to 3DS
Nintendo has teased the possibility of adding 3DS video recording to the 3DS for some time now. Satoru Iwata hinted that an update with the feature would be released in the future, and then Reggie Fils-Aime indicated that it was coming at the Game Developers Conference.
The latest tease comes from the newest Iwata Asks. First, here’s a partial conversation between Iwata and Yusuke Akifusa:
Akifusa: When I read the first Nintendo 3DS interviews in Iwata Asks, titled “And That’s How the Nintendo 3DS Was Made,” you’d already talked about video-related things and I thought, “Oh hey, the specs are written here…” (laughs) For example, an SD Card needs to be able to save lots of them. But now that we’re actually able to shoot 3D images, it’s really fun, and the large memory capacity on the SD Card will really come in handy.
Iwata: In other words, look forward to future model upgrades.
The two then discussed the topic later in the interview:
Akifusa: Actually, when you take a 3D photo of someone, it’s even possible to remember the person’s particular atmosphere accurately. So I want to take lots of 3D photos of my sons. For that reason, even to me, it feels as though the Nintendo 3DS system is changing the way I live, so I definitely want everyone else to try it as well. Then, and this is a topic I received from you, Iwata-san, but I would really love to take 3D videos as well.
Iwata: You’ll be able to take 3D videos of your twins. Your motive just expanded exponentially, Akifusa-san! (laughs)
Akifusa: Yes. (laughs) So I’d like people to look forward to that, as well.
I’d say it’s only a matter of time before we see 3DS video recording functionality. Hopefully it’ll be sooner rather than later!
