In a statement on social media, it was confirmed that Mortal Kombat 1 will be be receiving any further DLC. This applies to both new characters and story content.

Earlier in the month, Warner Bros. released Mortal Kombat 1: Definitive Edition. This version essentially bundles together everything that’s released thus far. The main game, story expansion, and various DLC characters are included. Some took that as a sign that Warner Bros. was ending support, which is largely true.

Mortal Kombat 1 could still get balance adjustments and fixes with future patches. However, for new content, it’s the end of the line. It seems that developer NetherRealm Studios is now focusing its efforts on a new project.

The statement shared today reads:

We are hearing players’ requests for continued game support of Mortal Kombat 1, and, while we will continue to support Mortal Kombat 1 through balance adjustments and fixes, there will not be additional DLC characters or story chapters released from this point on.

We understand this will be disappointing for fans, but our team at NetherRealm needs to shift focus to the next project in order to make it as great as we possibly can.
