n-Space slams Official Nintendo Magazine, Kotaku over Modern Warfare 3 DS reviews
The Official Nintendo Magazine provided a review of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 – Defiance a couple of weeks ago, with Kotaku following up with their own article today. To say the least, neither publication thought too highly of the title.
ONM gave the game a 70% while Kotaku’s verdict simply indicated that consumers shouldn’t purchase the game.
Both reviews contained blurbs indicating that Defiance should have been brought to the 3DS instead. ONM even said that “It’s just a shame n-Space wasn’t ready to make the step up to the 3DS yet because the added power could have made this one truly special.”
Responding to these reviews, n-Space posted on Facebook:
“The official Nintendo Magazine of UK gives CoD:MW3:D a 70%. Apparently we get marked down for ‘not being ready to take the step up to 3DS yet.’ I’m always amazed by how poorly game journalists understand the industry they work in. …Oh, and Kotaku can suck it.”
The thing is, n-Space wasn’t involved in the decision to make Modern Warfare 3 for DS. A few months back, the studio said, “You guys all need to understand that we make the games we are hired to make. It is not our call to decide which platforms to support.”
Of course, not all of the criticisms focused on the lack of a 3DS release. Both sites complained about Defiance’s controls, for example.
Ultimately, it’s true that n-Space wasn’t responsible for the platform decision for Modern Warfare 3: Defiance, though the manner in which they responded to these reviews probably won’t do the company any good.
