NetherRealm hopes to make a non-fighting title one day
Since its inception, NetherRealm Studios has only made fighting games. That started with Mortal Kombat in 2011 and will continue through 2013 with Injustice: Gods Among Us.
While there’s no doubt that fighting titles are NetherRealm’s specialty, Ed Boon hopes to branch out into other genres in the future.
Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon told the PlayStation Blog the following when asked about making a non-fighting project:
“We feel like Injustice is kind of our first step towards that. If it does well, we would like to see our next step be a non-fighting game, maybe something unique in its own right. This is our first step in that direction.”
