After more than a decade, Nintendo’s official support forums appear to be shutting down.

Certain posters, who Nintendo has recognized as “top members”, are allegedly receiving an early notice about the closure via email. It mentions that an announcement will be made “in the coming days”. These members are also entitled to a free download code for a game from Nintendo thanks to their prior assistance and dedication.

Below are a couple of excerpts from the email:

After more than a decade of hosting a fun, safe community where passionate Nintendo fans and new players alike can support each other with answers to technical questions about Nintendo’s products and services, we have decided to close the Nintendo Support Forums. Going forward, we will focus on the many other Nintendo support options that have greatly expanded over the last decade.

We have made the decision to close our customer support forums since there are many other ways to easily contact Nintendo. Any consumers who need support are encouraged to visit support.nintendo.com/contactus to find the best contact option for their specific situation. Options include support by phone, chat, text message, or by creating a help ticket.

Nintendo’s support forums have communities for various systems going back to the Wii up through Switch. There are also sections for classic systems, My Nintendo, and more.

Longtime Nintendo fans may remember NSider, which was open for a few years prior to the debut of the support forums. However, NSider was much more focused around actual gaming discussion as opposed to technical assistance. Those forums closed after a roughly four-year run.
