Nintendo finally reveals Switch 2’s new C button, GameChat
For months now, there’s been talk about a brand new C-button for Nintendo Switch 2. This can be found on the right Joy-Con that sits right underneath the home button. Fans have been wondering what the new C button is for, and today’s Nintendo Direct presentation provided that answer.
Game Chat is included as a new feature on the console. By using it, players can communicate with friends and family while playing a game. A microphone is built directly into the system for chat, supporting both docked and handheld modes.
Additionally, it’s possible to share your game screen. You can adjust the size of your game screen or expand another friend’s screen. With the C button, you can pull up a chat menu. You can quickly mute yourself and more.
By connecting a camera to the system, you can appear on screen and video chat while playing.
A Nintendo Switch Online membership will be needed for GameChat. However, it will be free for a limited time. Parental Controls app is supported with the feature.

GameShare will also be supported for local multiplayer. It can only be used with compatible Switch 1 games, starting with Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics.
Despite the leaks, Nintendo has tried keeping the new button a secret. You may recall that in the official announcement trailer and assets, it was edited to remove the “C” label.
